Happy Memorial Day

This Memorial Day weekend we were able to pay respect to our country and our service members by visiting Mt. Rushmore. I've been there countless times, but it still manages to take my breath away. It was the first time that Ethan and Jackson have been there, and I'm sure they'll visit many more times.

Andy, thank you for all you do for our family and our country.

Play Ball!

Ethan had his first t-ball practice tonight. He did really well and had lots of fun. We were reminded how annoying South Dakota mosquitos are, but they didn't slow the boys down any. It was also nice to catch up with old friends.

He had no problem fielding some ground balls.

Throwing it back to the coach.

Getting some tips from one of the coaches.

My favorite t-ball player and his #1 fan.
Jackson screamed, "Go, Ethan, Go!" throughout the entire practice.
Wish you were here Dad!

To Infinity and Beyond!

We found a great park in Spearfish with a rocket-shaped jungle gym. Ethan quickly raced up to the top of the rocket ship and blasted off into space. Jackson stayed a little closer to earth. Both boys had a great time playing together. It was a beautiful day!

Taking the rocket ship for a cruise.

Jackson loves the "yellow wee."

Best pals with matching cheesy grins.

They slid like this several times. Ethan insisted his brother needed help going down the slides. He never ceases to surprise me.
Love you Andy. :)

Our Favorite Movie

Every night we watch one of our Daddy movies. We have a movie that we made before Daddy left and another one that Daddy sent us from Afghanistan. Ethan is quick to answer all of Andy's questions, and Jackson loves showing Daddy all of his toys. It's a fun part of our bedtime routine to have Daddy read to us every night.

Love and miss you Daddy!

Passing Time...Missing Daddy

It has been two months since our Daddy went on his "work trip." We have learned that the key to surviving a deployment is staying busy. As you can see from the blog, we are succeeding! Miss and love you Daddy!

Ethan and Momo planted a carrot garden!

Jackson got a "new" slide at a garage sale.
It doubles as a race track for his cars.

Lovely Weather We're Having

Spring has finally sprung in South Dakota, and it feels good! We have been busy biking, and playing at parks, and even running through the sprinkle. I'm afraid to think that there are still chances for snow in our future. Eeek! For now I'll enjoy the lovely weather and pray that it stays this way!

Never camera shy.

Checking out a park in the old AFB housing complex. These houses are WAY nicer and WAY bigger than our Okinawa box...I mean...house. Not cool.

Hello Jackson!

Bring on the water play!

It actually is barely reaching 70, which is still a little too cold for Jackson to run through the sprinkler. Ethan has been desperate for all of these outdoor activities so he'll rough the cool breeze!
Love and miss you Daddy!

E-I-E-I-O !!

We visited Old MacDonald's Farm today. It is a wonderful petting zoo in the Black Hills. Ethan and Jackson are at the perfect age for feeding calves, holding baby goats, and giving love and attention to all of the animals.

Ethan feeding a baby calf.

Jackson got to feed the calves too!

"Hel-lo Goat!" He loves saying "hello" to everyone!

Ethan could have stayed in the goat pen all day petting the baby goats.

This goat thought he was a dog and insisted on sitting on Ethan's lap.
It was a great day, but it would have been better with our daddy!
We miss and love you!

The Graduate

Ethan graduated from preschool this evening. I was crying like a baby. We were blessed to find a wonderful preschool and teacher for the remainder of the school year. Ethan loved it and really thrived there. It's hard to believe this stage is over, and he will soon be in kindergarten.

The only boy graduate with the other preschool graduates.

Receiving his diploma from Ms. Rebecca.

Way to go Ethan!

More of the Great Outdoors

Here are some more pictures of the fun weekend o' camping. As you can see, the weather was perfect, and there was plenty to do. Thank goodness Summer is (sort of) here!

I think Jackson is starting to love swings more than Ethan.

Cute and carefree!

This is as close as they would get to Tommy; he kind of freaked them out.

The Great Outdoors

Momo and Papa and Ethan spent the weekend camping at Spearfish Park. Jackson and I visited them during the day, and then we spent the night at home. What can I say...I like my bed! Ethan and Jackson are born to camp though, which might just inspire their mother to be more camping-friendly. I'm sure that will make Daddy happy too! Miss you!

Jackson snuck into the camper and climbed on the bed. He kept saying, "Hel-lo Mama!" Then he would laugh hysterically. He thought he was so funny.

Not to be outdone by his younger brother, Ethan needed to show off his cuteness too.

Enjoying a campfire in their new Lightening McQueen camping chairs.

Family bike ride through the canyon! I got to ride too, but someone had to take the picture.

Jackson's 2nd Birthday

Jackson's birthday was really a great day. First of all, the weather was beautiful: sunny and 70's. We spent the morning at my parent's campsite. We went to the fish hatchery and fed the fish and ducks and walked through the old-fashioned train museum. We spent the afternoon opening gifts and playing with new toys. We ended the day with delicious chocolate cake with peanut butter/chocolate fudge frosting. Happy Birthday Jackson!

The birthday boy...wide-awake and excited at 6:30am.

Jackson sporting his new McQueen swim trunks, sandals, and backpack, as well as his new Buzz and Woody. This picture sums up Jackson perfectly.

Jackson and Ethan love the new tent/tunnel from Bobby, Connie, Gunner, and Great Momo and Mofa.

Wish you were here Daddy!

Our Baby is 2!

In honor of Jackson's second birthday, here is a quick trip down memory lane. I'll post more soon of the big boy and his birthday festivities.
